Wow. I haven’t seen a film this good for a while.
For me, the quirky story is made ever so engrossing by the characters, each of whom is convincingly realistic and uniquely endearing—I found myself surprisingly relating to them all. And what really makes the film great are the unexpected moments that teeter between mundane and magical, when there’s a genuine connection between characters amid the almost strange ordinariness of settings like a grocery store parking lot or sandy beach.
There’s enough uncertainty in the character’s circumstances and relationships to keep you wondering—and also just enough plot twists to jostle but not unnecessarily turbulize the flow. I loved practically every moment of it!
